MoveOn Outlines What Voters Need to Know About No Labels

Washington, D.C.Today, as reported in CNN, MoveOn Political Action announced the launch of “ExposeNoLabels,” a new website shedding light on No Labels’ reckless third-party ticket that will only help Donald Trump get reelected in 2024. The site comes ahead of No Labels deciding, behind closed doors, whether or not to move forward with their dangerous efforts – which would have severe consequences for millions of Americans – with absolutely no primary or caucus to give voters a voice.

“As No Labels and a few hundred hand-picked ‘delegates’ decide if they will run their third-party ticket that would put the presidency back in Donald Trump’s hands, voters deserve to know who is behind their dangerous thought experiment,” said MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting. “From a closed-door nomination process to MAGA dark-money donors to courting Republicans for the top of the ticket, No Labels is no friend to voters and our democracy. MoveOn and our members refuse to stand idly by as No Labels attempts to create chaos and enable a would-be dictator in Donald Trump who threatens our core values.”

MoveOn, partnered with AFT and SEIU, is prepared to launch a six-figure ad targeting voters in NV, WI, NC, and AZ – four crucial battleground states where No Labels is already on the ballot.

The website will serve as a central hub for research and analysis on No Labels and its potential candidates. Additionally, the website features a dedicated donor transparency section and highlights voices from across the political spectrum who have cast doubt on No Labels’ dangerous third-party efforts.

The website and research highlight what voters must know about No Labels:

  • No Labels is spearheading a shady and anti-democratic nomination process. Despite initial promises of a “unity” ticket, No Labels has recently hinted at excluding Democrats entirely, in favor of an all-Republican or Republican and Independent ticket. No Labels insiders will handpick its candidate for president, unlike any other political party where candidates earn the votes of millions of Americans.
  • No Labels is bankrolled by shadow donors and MAGA Republicans. No Labels refuses to disclose all of its sources of reportedly more than $70 million in dark-money funding, refuses to follow contribution limits, and refuses to register with the Federal Election Commission as a political party. It is only because of independent watchdog organizations and public reporting that we have learned that No Labels is being bankrolled in part by far-right megadonors, like Harlan Crow who financed Justice Clarence Thomas’s lavish vacations.
  • Skepticism of No Labels is broad and across the political spectrum. Multiple high-level officials once thought to be frontrunners for the No Labels ballot have publicly rejected the opportunity to lead the No Labels ticket. Voices from across the political spectrum, and even some within No Labels, have cast doubt on their dangerous third-party efforts. Even Donald Trump has said that a No Labels campaign will only help his reelection efforts.
