With a diverse background spanning service work, hospital chaplaincy, community organizing, and state legislative service, Sarah Trone Garriott has built a track record of unwavering commitment to the people of Iowa. Early on, she put herself through college waiting tables, cleaning hotel rooms, and working at Walmart, giving her a deep, personal understanding of how difficult it is for working families to make ends meet. Her calling to public service led her to join AmeriCorps as a VISTA volunteer supporting domestic violence survivors, serve as an ordained Lutheran pastor, and lead initiatives addressing food insecurity as a coordinator for the Des Moines Area Religious Council Food Pantry Network.

In 2020, frustrated by out-of-touch elected leaders, Sarah ran for the Iowa State Senate and successfully flipped a Republican-held seat. Since then, she has consistently proven her ability to win highly competitive elections across party lines, remaining the only Iowa Democrat to flip multiple districts and win in areas carried by Donald Trump. Now a mother of two boys attending local public schools, Sarah is running for Congress to bring pragmatic, working-class advocacy and compassionate leadership to Washington.
