MoveOn is proud to endorse Peggy Flanagan for Minnesota Senate!
Leadership and Experience
With more than two decades of experience as a community organizer, child advocate, and public servant, Peggy Flanagan has dedicated her career to ensuring that our government works for everyday families. An enrolled member of the White Earth Nation, Peggy grew up in St. Louis Park relying on Section 8 housing, SNAP, and Medicaid—experiences that deeply shape her understanding of policy, power, and equity. Her career in public service began on the Minneapolis Board of Education, followed by serving as the Executive Director of the Children’s Defense Fund-Minnesota and training tens of thousands of grassroots activists through Wellstone Action.
In 2015, Peggy was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives, where she co-founded the People of Color and Indigenous Caucus. Since 2019, she has made history as Minnesota’s Lieutenant Governor, serving as one of the highest-ranking Indigenous elected officials in the country. Throughout her executive tenure, Peggy has centered children, families, and workers, leading successful fights for paid family and medical leave, universal free school meals, and raising the state’s minimum wage. She is now running for the United States Senate to bring her proven record of compassionate, systemic change to Washington, working to become the first Native American woman to serve in the U.S. Senate.
