WASHINGTON, D.C. – As reported in USA Today, WHYY, and The Philadelphia Inquirer, MoveOn Political Action began their Scoop the Vote free ice cream truck tour of more than 20 cities in key battleground districts with a kickoff event in Philadelphia featuring Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield. Event attendees received free ice cream and talked about the importance of making their plan to vote by November 5 as the rally coincided with Pennsylvania’s first day of early voting.
The Scoop the Vote truck will continue its journey through key districts with its next rally in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on September 28. In addition to MoveOn’s collaboration with Ben & Jerry’s co-founders, they are also partnering with Jeni Britton, founder of Jeni’s Ice Creams, and Malai Ice Cream in New York City on Friday, September 20. “You can lick and say you care all you want, but if you’re not going for the big scoop—to get registered and vote—at the end of the day, all you’ve got is some drips down your shirt. Go big. Scoop the vote,” said Ben Cohen, activist and co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s.
“We love ice cream and we love MoveOn—because MoveOn’s members are always working hard for the change we care about. MoveOn members are tireless—so if we can help make the hard work of improving our country a little sweeter, why not?” said Jerry Greenfield, activist and co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s.
Durrel Douglas, Field Organizing Manager of MoveOn Political Action, added, “Our message today is simple. This fall, you, me, and all the people who live in the City of Brotherly Love, can come together to protect our futures and our freedoms. “Together, by voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, as well as Democrats like Senator Bob Casey and many others down ballot, together we can turn the page and stop Donald Trump and MAGA’s Project 2025 agenda from taking us backward.”
Building upon renewed momentum, the Scoop the Vote Tour will support the organization’s $32 million 2024 election program, which aims to persuade and mobilize infrequent “surge” voters in key districts to vote for Democrats up and down the ballot.
