Join NowWashington, D.C. – Following twice-impeached President Trump’s fourth criminal indictment, MoveOn Political Action is calling on No Labels to disavow Trump. In addition to the group’s lack of action surrounding Trump’s arrests, No Labels has yet to admonish Trump for his role in the January 6 insurrection and even granted him their “Problem Solver” Award in 2016. No Labels has been dishonestly arguing that any opposition to its bid is anti-democratic, yet they have been conspicuously absent in disavowing Trump’s attempts to overthrow the election and speaking to the fact that their third-party effort would pave a path to his reelection in 2024, as shown by their own polling.
“If No Labels cares so deeply about preserving democracy and protecting our freedom to vote, then why won’t they speak up about any of Trump’s arrests or his role in the deadly insurrection?” said MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting. “No Labels talks a big game about democracy and unity, but the truth of it is that the group and its MAGA extremist donors are paving the path for Donald Trump to take back the White House and destroy our most sacred institutions.”
MoveOn is working with a broad range of Democratic organizations, including the moderate think tank Third Way, to stop No Labels from running a third-party “unity” presidential ticket, given the party’s misleading tactics, failure to disclose their donors, and their own polling that shows their efforts will put Donald Trump in office again. MoveOn is also leading efforts to disqualify Trump from running for president—with more than 406,000 MoveOn members calling for secretaries of state around the country to disqualify him from the ballot, due to his role in spurring the deadly January 6 insurrection.
