Daily Beast: RFK Jr Enlists Trump Lovers to Get on Delaware Ballot With Biden
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, The Daily Beast reports that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is recruiting Trump supporters to help him get on the ballot and spoil President Biden’s reelection campaign. This isn’t the first time Kennedy Jr. has sought GOP support for his campaign, nor is it the first time his haphazard and dysfunctional ballot access operation has made headlines. Meanwhile, Republicans have made no secret of wanting to elevate third-party candidates, including RFK Jr., Jill Stein, and Cornel West, in order to help Trump.
“It’s no secret why Donald Trump’s biggest donors and GOP operatives are helping third-party candidates. They want to clear a path for Trump to retake the White House, which will throw our democracy into chaos. RFK Jr. is nothing but a front for the Trump campaign, and we want to make it clear that supporting a third-party spoiler is no different than pulling the lever for Trump and his disastrous policies,” said MoveOn Chief Communications Officer Joel Payne.
BACKGROUND
- In Delaware, RFK Jr. is working with the Independent Party of Delaware (IPD), which has known ties to extremist, right-wing individuals. Its vice chairman, Phil Dyer, attended the riot at the Capitol on January 6 and recently called for another.
- RFK Jr. is also working with the “Natural Law Party” of Michigan, which nominated RFK Jr. at a two-person convention led by a part-time magician, while leaders from the same party’s Florida branch called RFK Jr.’s campaign “scammers.”
- Last week, USA Today reported that Trump’s biggest donor, Timothy Mellon, is contributing millions to the campaign.
- Trump allies have publicly stated they are plotting to spoil the election against President Biden by backing third-party candidates, including Jill Stein and Dr. Cornel West, as well as RFK Jr.
- Republican operatives in North Carolina, a key battleground state, are working to get Dr. Cornel West on the presidential ballot.
