RFK Jr: “It’s quite possible. I’m 70 years old. I’ve lived a very rambunctious life.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, MoveOn Political Action condemns Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for confirming that more accusations of sexual harassment and assault are likely to come out against him in the future.
In a one-on-one interview, CBS correspondent Warren Garrett probed RFK Jr. about allegations of sexual assault allegations lodged against him by a former babysitter for the Kennedy family.
Garrett asked RFK Jr. “Is it possible you might have to apologize to other women?” to which RFK Jr. replied “It’s quite possible. I’m 70 years old. I’ve lived a very rambunctious life.”
RFK Jr. has no shame: After an explosive article from Vanity Fair detailed how RFK Jr. sexually assaulted his children’s former babysitter, he didn’t deny the allegations, saying “I wasn’t a church boy.” As reported in The Boston Globe, he implied there might be more women who come forward with sexual assault and harassment claims. As disqualifying as that admission is on its own, news resurfaced that RFK Jr. has been linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“Considering the heinous sexual assault allegations that recently surfaced and his consistent antiscience, antidemocratic views, it’s no wonder RFK Jr. is hemorrhaging voters and donors left and right,” said MoveOn Political Action Spokesperson Britt Jacovich. “Between his shady tactics, questionable past, and collusion with Republicans, it’s crystal clear that RFK Jr. has no path to victory and should drop out immediately.”
BACKGROUND:
This isn’t the first time that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been accused of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior toward women. In his 2015 book “RFK Jr.: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Dark Side of the Dream,” Jerry Oppenheimer reported that multiple women said RFK Jr. had touched them inappropriately or exposed himself to them—repeatedly fondling women under dinner tables and exposing himself to his wife and her friends around their house.
RFK Jr. also staunchly defended three of his relatives who were accused of rape and violence against women or girls:
- In 1997, RFK Jr. publicly defended his brother Michael L. Kennedy, who had an ongoing sexual relationship with a girl who was his children’s babysitter, reportedly beginning when she was 14.
- In 1991, RFK Jr. publicly defended his cousin William Kennedy Smith, who was charged with raping a woman at the family’s compound in Florida. RFK Jr. said his cousin’s accuser had some “sad and serious emotional problems.”
- Throughout the 2000s, RFK Jr. publicly defended his cousin Michael Skakel, who was charged with and later convicted of murdering Martha Moxley when both Skakel and Moxley were 15 years old. Skakel admitted to masturbating outside of Moxley’s bedroom window on the night of her murder. In 2016, RFK Jr. published a book that accused two Black men of the crime, allegations that were rejected by a court and have been scrutinized in the media.
