91 percent of MoveOn-endorsed candidates are on track to win their races in this cycle
Lansing, Mich. — In response to William Lawrence winning his race to represent Michigan’s 7th Congressional District, MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Joel Payne released the following statement:
“Michiganders sent William Lawrence to Congress to be a champion for working families. He won this election by running a true grassroots, genuine campaign that focused on putting Michigan families first. MoveOn members helped power this victory for Lawrence since the primary. As he heads to Washington, we will have his back in the fights to lower prices and healthcare costs, end Trump’s illegal war in Iran, and get corporate money out of politics.
MoveOn launched billboards, digital ads, mailers, a paid dials campaign, and events to reach voters in the Lansing area and tapped its sizable activist base to engage in member-to-member phone banks, get-out-the-vote efforts, and volunteer canvassing events for Lawrence in the closely watched race.
Lawrence’s endorsement is part of the largest primary campaign intervention in the history of the organization. MoveOn backed a wave of bold, populist candidates this cycle, making primary election endorsements of leaders like Randy Villegas in California, Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota, and Brad Lander in New York, to send fighters to Congress who will not settle for the status quo. 91 percent of MoveOn-endorsed candidates are on track to win their races in this cycle.
