“No Kings: Vote Early” To Host Coordinated Day of Action; Interactive Map Of Locations Available At NoKings.Org

Washington, DC — MoveOn, a member of the No Kings Coalition, announced the designation of October 17 as a day of coordinated, nonpartisan action across the country to drive early voting. Millions took to the streets last year and gathered for one of the largest single-day, nonviolent direct actions in U.S. history in March. No Kings: Vote Early is the next step in this growing movement, making sure we use our collective power at the ballot box for the future we want for our families, communities, and country. 

“The No Kings movement has always been about making clear that power in this country lies with the American people, not an authoritarian government or its billionaire allies,” said Joel Payne, Chief Communications Officer for MoveOn Civic Action. “No matter how much elected officials may try to silence our voices and make it harder for people to vote, they won’t succeed. The next No Kings will provide MoveOn members the runway and momentum to deliver turnout so large the results can’t be questioned.”

Community events will vary from block parties to rallies to walks to the polls. Each one will be working toward a common goal: making sure every eligible voter has a plan to vote early (where possible), knows their options for how to vote, and is ready to make their voice count by casting their ballot. 

“On October 17th, No Kings: Vote Early will show the billionaire elites attempting to destroy our country that We the People have the power by mobilizing turnout to make our elections too big for the evils of fascism and oligarchy to rig. The people, united, will never be defeated,” said Sarah Parker, Executive Director of Voices of Florida Fund and a spokeswoman for 50501. 

“250 years ago, America fought a Revolution to reject being governed by Kings. Today, to ensure No Kings in America, everyone who is eligible to vote must have access to vote and must get out to vote. That’s why, on October 17, we’re turning people power into voter power,” said Randi Weingarten, AFT President. “Every day, families are making impossible choices about groceries, gas, childcare, and rent, and the people we elect decide whether those choices get any easier. No one person, no wealthy donor, gets to choose our leaders for us—only the voters do. Let’s exercise that power on our own terms, starting now, through the early voting period, until the polls close on Election Day—and then every day after. We need to make sure every eligible voter has a plan to be heard.”

“America belongs to the people—not to kings, billionaires or politicians. When we organize our collective power, we can hold those in office accountable and fight for the future our communities deserve. No Kings: Vote Early is about turning that power into action, making sure every eligible voter knows their options, makes a plan, and is ready to cast their ballot,” said Cliff Albright and LaTosha Brown, co-founders of Black Voters Matter Fund. “The cost of our groceries, our utility bills, our healthcare — all of it is shaped by the people we elect and the decisions they make, which is why our participation matters. We got us, and that means on October 17, we’re making sure our communities are ready to use our collective power at the ballot box and beyond.”

“Since the first No Kings in June of last year millions of people have demonstrated they are not afraid and they will not bow to any would-be American King. We’ve sent that message loud and clear – but we’re not just sending a message with this next No Kings. We’re taking back power for the people using our constitutional right to organize and our constitutional right to vote,” said Ezra Levin, co-founder and co-executive director of Indivisible. “While corrupt politicians and elected officials line their pockets, families across America are struggling to put food on the table and gas in the car. No Kings: Vote Early is about making sure every eligible voter has a plan to vote, knows their options, and is ready to make their voice heard.”

Gathering across the country to joyously celebrate the right of all Americans to cast a ballot, and to cast it early if that is an option in their state, is a beautiful endeavor.
