MoveOn gathered 10 content creators to counter Republican lies in Dallas

DALLAS—During Republicans’ midterm convention in Dallas last week, MoveOn gathered 10 Texas-based content creators, including MoveOn’s Jordan Uhl, to deliver rapid-response counter-messaging to Republicans’s lies at their national midterm convention.

Texas Monthly covered the content house here and an excerpt is included below:

“This was a theme of sorts for the hype house. Though the convention was national in scope, the content was to be more localized. All of the creators MoveOn had assembled were from Texas; the organizer, Jordan Uhl, had considered hosting other Democratic talent, but, he told me, he’d found that Texans were quite territorial and didn’t like to hear from outsiders. “We wanted a group that reflected the real Texas,” Uhl said, “not the radical, MAGA crowd that we saw at the convention.”

“The road to rebuilding trust with the millions of Americans who have checked out of politics as usual is to go directly to the types of dynamic, fresh voices that they trust,” said MoveOn’s Political Action Chief Communications Officer, Joel Payne. “Republicans spent the week trying to whitewash President Trump’s failures and squeeze out more ratings over traditional airwaves—but we decided to meet Americans where they’re at: social media. MoveOn is committed to adapting to the new media environment and making sure voters get an authentic view of Trump and Republican delusions on display.”

As part of its $27M election program, MoveOn is partnering with local creators based in the key electoral districts that will determine who controls Congress. The group is activating creators as organizers—working side by side with MoveOn volunteers on the ground, turning online engagement into real-world action, while also building infrastructure beyond the midterms.

In the aftermath of the 2024 election, MoveOn has been focused on reaching voters where they are online and with trusted messengers. The group now has one of the largest YouTube accounts among progressive organizations.
