VIRGINIA – In response to the Supreme Court of Virginia striking down Virginians’ voting to redraw the state’s congressional map, MoveOn Political Action Chief Communications Officer Joel Payne released the following statement:

“Virginians voted to level the playing field against Republican efforts to avoid accountability at the ballot box. And now a court is silencing and invalidating the votes of 3 million Virginians. Once again, the courts have blunted the will of the people, and are giving a green light to President Trump and Republicans’ unprecedented power grab in the midterms.

“MoveOn members will not back down—we will get behind those in elected office who will fight back and stop Republicans from silencing our voices.”

MoveOn Political Action endorsed the redistricting ballot measure and mobilized members to GOTV through email, phone banks and SMS, postcard mailers, and recruiting volunteers for direct voter contact outreach throughout the state. This campaigning follows the group’s 2025 endorsement and organizing for Prop 50, California’s redistricting effort in response to Trump’s extreme gerrymandering.
