WASHINGTON – Today, New York City voters elected Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani to become the city’s next mayor. MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Katie Bethell released the following statement:
“Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is paving the way for what should be the future of the Democratic Party—young, bold leaders who understand the affordability crisis in our country and have concrete plans to lower our cost of living. MoveOn members enthusiastically endorsed, volunteered, and voted for Mamdani, and we will continue to have his back as he gets to work to enact his workers-first, billionaires-last agenda.”
MoveOn’s thousands of New York members endorsed Mayor-elect Mamdani in the primary. In 2018, MoveOn members were among the first to endorse Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in her primary for NY-14.
