“The American people deserve better than this. Republicans are leading our country from one manufactured crisis to another all to chase an unpopular, out-of-the mainstream agenda that’s all about loyalty to Donald Trump, playing games and vengeance. Their governing by ‘game of chicken’ is dangerous and reckless, and it shows that Kevin McCarthy, his allies and complicit Republicans in competitive congressional districts that enable him are not serious people. Crisis was averted this time only because House and Senate Democrats and President Biden did their job to prioritize the interests of the American people instead of the GOP’s plan to slash housing aid for veterans, cut food assistance for families and rip funding away from low-income schools. But make no mistake: MAGA Republicans will continue to force this extremist agenda on the American people every opportunity they get.”
