MoveOn Endorses in Five U.S. Senate Races to Hold Dem Majority

Members Invest in Baldwin, Brown, Casey, Gallego, Rosen Races

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following their recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for president, MoveOn members have endorsed five more U.S. Senate candidates in battleground states to protect the Senate from Republican control. This announcement comes as part of the group’s $32 million 2024 election program to persuade and mobilize voters in battleground districts to defend the country against MAGA extremism in the White House and down the ballot.

MoveOn members endorsed the following candidates in races that are crucial to holding the U.S. Senate and creating balance on the Supreme Court:

  • Ruben Gallego (Arizona)
  • Jacky Rosen (Nevada)
  • Sherrod Brown (Ohio)
  • Bob Casey Jr. (Pennsylvania)
  • Tammy Baldwin (Wisconsin)

“MoveOn members know that the venom of MAGA extremism spreads down-ballot, but we have the antidote. It starts with holding our Senate majority, taking back the House, adding balance back to the MAGA majority on the Supreme Court, and electing Vice President Harris to the White House,” said MoveOn Political Action spokesperson Britt Jacovich. “These champions of democracy will prioritize people-first policies while they combat regressive agendas from Donald Trump’s Republican Party.”

This news follows MoveOn’s endorsement of 22 candidates for key U.S. House races across the country, including Summer Lee (Pennsylvania’s 12th District) in her primary election. As reported in Axios, MoveOn members endorsed Andy Kim (New Jersey) and Angela Alsobrooks (Maryland) for U.S. Senate earlier this year.

  • In 2024, our democracy, abortion access, and fundamental freedoms are at stake like never before, and MoveOn is meeting the moment. To secure a Democratic trifecta, we are strategically addressing the enthusiasm gap among Democratic voters by zeroing in on surge voters in battleground states and districts.

  • Within this surge voter population of more than 11 million across our target geographies, MoveOn is focusing on young voters and voters who need to be moved to turn out again for the anti-Trump coalition. These surge voters are often motivated to vote by tailored appeals on issues that impact their day-to-day lives.

  • MoveOn will continue to utilize voter contact tactics that have proven to be successful in previous cycles, including house parties, targeted digital ads, and direct voter contact through phone-banking, canvassing, and vote tripling, where committed voters remind friends and family to get out to vote.

  • Third-party presidential candidates continue to put our democracy at risk, making it all the more challenging to beat Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans in 2024. The data shows that 2016 will surely repeat itself if these third-party spoilers do not step aside. This moment requires great urgency to show unified resolve to defeat MAGA and build on the progressive movement’s gains over the last few years.
