MoveOn Endorses CA Prop 50, Dem Efforts to Stop Election Rigging

CALIFORNIA – California MoveOn members voted overwhelmingly to endorse Prop 50, California’s Election Rigging Response Act. As President Trump and Republicans make an unprecedented power grab, it’s crucial for Democratic-led states like California to ensure a level playing field in the 2026 midterm elections without an unfair advantage for Republicans. 

In addition to their endorsement, MoveOn Political Action will also be spending over six figures in the state to organize around Prop 50 and mobilize the organization’s over 700,000 California members to turn out to vote for it in the special election. 

“President Trump is trying to cheat his way to victory in 2026,” said MoveOn Executive Director Katie Bethell. “From forcing his way into cities to kidnapping people off the streets, Trump and Republicans are trying to silence our voices so they can get away with making the rich, and themselves, even richer. Nobody voted for Trump and Republicans to raise costs and make our communities more dangerous, and they know they have to rig the system in their favor to have a chance at winning in 2026.”

MoveOn’s Prop 50 endorsement marks the first time the organization has weighed in on Democratic-led redistricting efforts, signifying the stakes in the moment require elected Democrats to use every tool at their disposal to hold the Trump administration accountable.
