Get Ready for No Kings Day

We’re all watching Los Angeles right now as President Trump is abusing his power to manufacture a crisis so that he can take away our free speech and our right to protest. In recent days and against the orders of local leaders, he’s deployed the National Guard and Marines to intimidate protesters protecting immigrants from mass raids, an unprecedented overreach that lays the groundwork to threaten all of our rights and stifle all opposition.

And it’s all happening while he is trying to bully legislation through Congress that would steal health care from 16 million Americans to make the rich even richer and throwing a ridiculous military parade birthday party that will cost Americans tens of millions of dollars.

That’s why this Saturday, June 14, communities across the country are gearing up for what is expected to be one of the biggest mobilizations of the second Trump presidency, No Kings Day. Hundreds of thousands of people like you will take to the streets peacefully to demand Trump stop his authoritarian power grab.

There are nearly 2,000 events planned across all 50 states. And even more important than the number of events is a critical mass of people joining to show broad opposition to this administration’s attempt to bully us into submission. You can check out if there is one close to you and RSVP here.

President Trump is creating chaos and trying to scare us away from holding him accountable while he screws over working people. But there are more of us than him, and that’s why it’s so important that all of us come out together to Saturday’s peaceful No Kings rallies.

If you’re planning to go to a No Kings Day event, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Show up peacefully. The power of events comes from all of us coming together in peaceful protest. The world will see hundreds of thousands of people, from all walks of life, exercising our First Amendment right to protest.
  • Attend with a friend or someone you trust. There is safety in numbers and in having a buddy, and it’s a chance to bring one more person into the movement.
  • Bring signage that demonstrates solidarity and unity.
  • Have a plan to take care of yourself. Write down important phone numbers, remove facial recognition from your phone, bring water, wear comfortable shoes, and stay aware of your surroundings.
  • Do post photos of the protest that show how beautiful our movement is. But don’t post photos of the protest that include close-ups of attendees’ faces unless you get their permission.
  • Step in to help if you feel willing and able. We’re a community, and we take care of each other—if you’re registered, you can contact your host to ask if there’s anything they need that you can provide.
  • You have rights! Here’s a guide from the ACLU outlining your right to protest.

No Kings Day organizers are holding a pre-event call on Thursday evening
to give attendees the latest information and a final reminder on the importance of nonviolence and de-escalation at these events. We encourage everyone who is able to attend. RSVP if you want this pre-rally briefing.

Lastly, all participants are being asked to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. We ask event attendees to follow simple rules on non-violent, peaceful protest. Learn more here.

Together, we’ll unite against Trump’s terrible abuses of power and economic policies. Check out if there is an event in your community, and be sure to show up if you can.
