Leadership and Experience

For over four decades, Reverend Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III has served as a prophetic faith leader, social justice advocate, and community organizer in North Texas. As the longtime Senior Pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church—one of the largest and most active Black churches in the region, boasting over 13,000 members—Dr. Haynes has dedicated his life’s work to lifting up marginalized voices, fighting economic exploitation, and mobilizing grassroots movements for racial and systemic justice.

From leading on-the-ground battles against the predatory payday lending industry to advocating for environmental justice in southern Dallas, Dr. Haynes has spent his career directly addressing the challenges facing working-class Texans. Now, he is running for Congress to take his lifelong legacy of servant-leadership and community-first organizing from the “prophetic pulpit to the political podium” in Washington, D.M.

• Development Without Displacement: Deeply committed to equitable urban planning, Dr. Haynes will champion policies that invest heavily in historic neighborhoods stripped away by racist gerrymandering, while fiercely fighting against gentrification to ensure families can stay in their homes.

• Economic Security & Living Wages: A vocal opponent of minimum wages that keep families in poverty, Dr. Haynes will fight at the federal level to establish a true living wage and build robust protections to shield vulnerable communities from predatory financial institutions and corporate greed.

• Environmental Justice: Understanding that systemic racism directly influences policy, Dr. Haynes will push for strict federal environmental standards to confront and dismantle environmental racism, protecting communities of color from industrial pollution and toxic waste.

• Educational Justice: Dr. Haynes believes in funding potential over mere systems. In Congress, he will work to overhaul public education funding to guarantee that schools in historically under-resourced neighborhoods receive the equitable federal support they need to help all children thrive.

• Healthcare for All: Dr. Haynes strongly supports Medicare for All, advocating for a universal, single-payer healthcare system to ensure that medical care is a guaranteed human right for every American.

• Abolishing ICE: Demanding structural transparency and an end to systemic bias, Dr. Haynes has called for the abolition of ICE, protesting the militarization and weaponization of immigrant enforcement against communities of color.

• Opposition to Genocide and Global Violence: Guided by his faith and a deep belief in global humanity, Dr. Haynes stands firmly against genocide and state-sanctioned violence worldwide—including in Gaza, Haiti, the Congo, and Sudan—advocating for a foreign policy centered on peace, human rights, and global dignity.

• Faith as a Moral Lens, Not a Political tool: Embracing faith-grounded accountability, Dr. Haynes views spiritual values as a moral obligation to deliver justice and serve the vulnerable, explicitly rejecting the weaponization of religion to divide communities or impose personal beliefs.
