about Dina Titus

MoveOn is proud to endorse Rep. Dina Titus for reelection in Nevada’s 1st Congressional District!

Leadership and Experience

With decades of experience as a university professor, state senator, and public servant, Dina Titus—the dean of Nevada’s congressional delegation—has spent her entire career fighting for working families, seniors, and vulnerable communities. Before serving in Congress, she spent 34 years teaching American and Nevada government at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and served for 20 years in the Nevada State Senate, including 15 years as Democratic Minority Leader shaping progressive state policy.

In the U.S. House of Representatives, Dina serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee. Rated one of the most effective Democratic members of the House, she has consistently used her platform to deliver bold results—from securing massive investments for sustainable infrastructure like the Brightline West High-Speed Rail to holding corporate landlords accountable and defending democratic institutions.

How she’ll help your community:

  • Affordable Housing & Holding Corporate Landlords Accountable: To address Southern Nevada’s housing crisis, Dina is pushing to expand rental housing vouchers for lower-income families and has introduced legislation targeting institutional corporate investors who buy up single-family homes, demanding those properties be owned by local families, not Wall Street corporations.

  • Gun Violence Prevention: Following the tragic 2017 Las Vegas shooting, Dina emerged as a national leader in the fight against gun violence. As a key member of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, she introduced the Closing the Bump Stock Loophole Act and continues to push for universal background checks, bans on assault weapons, and extreme risk protection laws.

  • Clean Energy & Environmental Stewardship: A long-time champion for environmental sustainability, Dina authored Nevada’s first renewable portfolio standard while in the state legislature. In Congress, she continues to advocate for clean energy development, public lands protection, and green jobs to transition Southern Nevada to a sustainable future.

  • Dignity for Working Families: Dina is a steadfast ally of organized labor and the building trades. She consistently advocates for raising the federal minimum wage, protecting workers’ rights to unionize, and ensuring major infrastructure projects create good-paying, union jobs.

Her position on key issues

  • Reproductive Freedom & Healthcare Access: A dedicated member of the Pro-Choice Caucus, Dina strongly supports codifying Roe v. Wade, expanding access to reproductive healthcare, and lowering prescription drug costs for families and seniors.

  • Animal Welfare Leadership: As a key leader in the Animal Protection Caucus, Dina champions legislation to end animal cruelty, protect wild horses and burros on public lands, and strengthen federal oversight of animal testing.

  • Quality Public Education: Drawing on her 34 years in the classroom, Dina prioritizes full funding for public K-12 education, smaller class sizes, and expanding access to affordable higher education and vocational training.

  • Corporate Accountability & Government Integrity: Dina supports taking on corporate greed, tightening ethical oversight in Washington, and reforming government to ensure working people—not wealthy donors and lobbyists—guide national policy.
