Solar power has tremendous potential to create jobs, grow local businesses, and protect the environment in Washington, D.C., where air pollution ranks among the worst in the country. Anya Schoolman and her organization Mt. Pleasant Solar Cooperative started a MoveOn Petition supporting legislation to require PEPCO, the city’s main utility company, to use homegrown renewable power and help put more solar on the rooftops of our nation’s capital.

In 2011 alone, Florida Republicans introduced 18 separate bills to restrict a woman’s right to choose. But progressive champion Rep. Scott Randolph fought back. When Dean Cannon, the Republican Speaker of the House, tried to silence debate on the issue, Scott launched a MoveOn Petition demanding Speaker Cannon allow full debate and end the war on choice.
