Leadership and Experience

A Dena’ina Athabascan and lifelong Alaskan, Bill Hill brings a deep understanding of working-class life to his run for Congress. Raised in the small village of Kokhanok on Iliamna Lake, Bill spent his youth subsistence hunting, fishing, and working on his family’s drift boat starting at age 12. He has commercially fished every season since, worked as a union construction member, and operated a small business—giving him firsthand experience with the economic challenges working Alaskans face.

Bill dedicated over 25 years to public education as a teacher, principal, and superintendent, earning recognition as Alaska’s Superintendent of the Year in 2023. As a labor advocate and lifelong educator, Bill is ready to head to Washington to take on corporate interests, fight for lower costs, and ensure everyday Alaskans finally have a voice in Congress.

How he’ll help your community:

• Protecting Alaska’s Fisheries & Subsistence Rights: Having spent his life fishing Bristol Bay, Bill will stand up to industrial waste by taking on bycatch, defending native subsistence rights, and ensuring fairness for local fishing communities.

• Championing Workers & Labor: Bill will fight to empower workers by championing federal legislation like the PRO Act, protecting the right to organize, and ensuring federal investments directly benefit local union labor.

• Rebuilding Public Education & Community Schools: Drawing on his decades as an educator and school superintendent, Bill will advocate for robust federal investments in public schools and vocational training to set up the next generation for success.

• Affordable Housing & Lowering Energy Costs: Bill will fight to expand housing development, lower home heating and fuel costs through renewable energy incentives, and stop corporate price-gouging on everyday necessities.
