ICE Murders Should be the Final Straw

Congress Must Answer for So Much Blood on ICE’s Hands

WASHINGTON – In response to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents fatally shooting Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine, and Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, Texas, in recent days, MoveOn Civic Action Chief Executive Officer Katie Bethell released the following statement:

“As we mourn the deaths of Johan Sebastian Guerrero and Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, the Republicans in Congress who greenlit another $70 billion of taxpayer money to fund and arm Trump’s rogue, violent ICE agents need to ask themselves, was it worth more children losing their fathers due to their blind allegiance to Trump?

Murdering innocent people in broad daylight cannot become standard operating procedure. Pausing ICE traffic stops won’t stop the bleeding. Americans are watching and Republicans must finally hold this out-of-control agency accountable for terrorizing our neighborhoods and making countless families grieve. MoveOn members will not stop calling their representatives until transparent investigations occur and justice and accountability for Johan and Lorenzo are achieved.”
