Trump just signed an executive order to attempt to dismantle the Department of Education. Gutting this agency means ripping away federal funding from families that need it the most. Children with disabilities will lose special education services. Class sizes will explode and job training programs will be cut, hurting kids and families from low-income communities. The pursuit of higher education will become further out of reach for students depending on financial aid.

Republicans across the country are working to decimate public education and villainize public school teachers. They are attempting to dismantle the Department of Education, get rid of teachers unions, cut critical federal funding, impose universal voucher programs that siphon money from public schools to private schools, and eliminate any programs that support equity and inclusion.
