Washington, D.C. – In response to an opinion article in which former Trump Attorney General Bill Barr attempts to provide political cover for No Labels and their reckless third-party campaign that will only help elect Donald Trump, MoveOn Political Action Chief Communications Officer Joel Payne released the following statement:
“MoveOn doesn’t need lectures about democracy and fairness from a man who misled the nation about the Mueller Report, dropped federal charges against Trump ally Michael Flynn, and personally ordered police and federal agents to clear out innocent protesters outside the White House. For years, Bill Barr encouraged and enabled Donald Trump while doing Trump’s personal and political bidding. It’s telling that someone like Bill Barr feels compelled to step up and act as a spokesman for No Labels’ dangerous and reckless efforts. Just as he did nearly every day he served as Attorney General, Barr’s latest act on the national stage – providing political cover for No Labels – is empowering Trump.”
