Join NowLOS ALTOS, CALIFORNIA — On Wednesday, July 23, progressive activists from more than a dozen grassroots organizations will gather outside a high-profile fundraiser with President Obama and tech industry leaders to call on President Obama to protect Net Neutrality. The rally, organized by MoveOn.org Political Action and Free Press, will pressure President Obama to live up to his promise to defend Net Neutrality, currently under threat by a proposal, from an FCC chair appointed by the president, that would divide the Internet into fast lanes for wealthy corporations and slow lanes for the rest of us.
Since his first campaign, President Obama has promised to preserve the open Internet that helped him get elected and that every American relies on to access information, start a new business, and compete on a level playing field. The free and open Internet propelled President Obama to office in 2008 and 2012, and his campaign relied on new and innovative ways of organizing people to engage in politics. President Obama has promised to uphold Net Neutrality but has yet to address the issue this summer or push for the FCC to treat broadband Internet as a public utility.
WHAT: Don’t Kill the Internet! Net Neutrality Rally

More than 1 million Americans have already submitted comments to the FCC on the need to preserve the open Internet, recently causing the FCC’s comment website to crash, and grassroots activists are calling the White House every day to urge President Obama to live up to his promise and make sure that the FCC treats the Internet as the public utility it is.
