The Republican Plan: 400K New Abortions, 700K Jobs Lost

We already knew the Republicans want to eliminate funding for NPR, PBS, and Planned Parenthood. But did you know their budget could lead to an estimated 400,000 additional abortions each year, and 700,000 more people out of work? The New York Times writes:

The egregious cuts in the House resolution include the elimination of support for Title X, the federal family planning program for low-income women that provides birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, and testing for H.I.V. and other sexually transmitted diseases. In the absence of Title X’s preventive care, some women would die. The Guttmacher Institute, a leading authority on reproductive health, says a rise in unintended pregnancies would result in some 400,000 more abortions a year.

And what about jobs? According to The Washington Post:

A Republican plan to sharply cut federal spending this year would destroy 700,000 jobs through 2012, according to an independent economic analysis set for release Monday.

In the meantime, the tea partiers still don’t think Republicans are trying to cut enough.

Where are the cuts in these legislators benefits? I never see anything about cuts in their pay or benefits. Benefits that you and I pay for. Lets for once, start cutting from the top down. Cutting preventative health care is short sighted and costs much more in the long run.

It’s a good question, why don’t Republicans want to cut from the top? Because it would cut into their campagne funds. America needs to wake up and demand the cuts be from congressmen pentions, and all the golden parachutes given the the top like judges. Do you realize Senator Kyle (Republican) announceing his retirement will retire with a $140,000.00 pention that we paid for. As will all other congressmen if they serve as little as 5 years. Thats only one term. America demand cuts at the top first then we are happy to do out part.

Yes, we should all trust the spin, spin, spin of the NYTimes. “The Guttmacher Institute, a leading authority on reproductive health, . .”nHA! What a joke! The Guttmacher Institute was founded as a semiautonomous division of Planned Parenthood Federation of America in 1968, and was called the Center for Family Planning Development. It was renamed for Alan F. Guttmacher after his death in 1974.nn

The point is, that I should not have to pay for birth control for some woman who chooses to have sex…period. I should not have to pay for a woman who does not use protection and chooses to have an abortion. The “400 abortions” should not come from the tax payers pockets to begin with, so the consequence should be more individual responsibility. Why do progressives insist that failure and poor choices of someone should be paid for by someone else? The culture in this country has changed to reflect an inability to provide for yourself. The unions and welfare and tax cuts have created dependancy on the federal government to wipe your own behind. When some of you grow up, I hope that you will find shame in your past.

Abortions provided by planned parenthood do not use taxpayer money AT ALL. They are funded solely by the individual receiving care either through insurance or out of pocket. The consequences will be a drastic cut in the quality and availability of healthcare to women which will result more deaths per year as a result. SO you do not in fact pay for any womans abortion. Do your research…and I hope that you find some shame in your arrogant self serving past as well.

They pay all the fees, huh? How does a 14 year old girl pay for an abortion, and how could the program even allow this type of procedure without gaurdian consent? That sounds like the type of “health care” we need. As you stated: “They are funded solely by the individual receiving care either through insurance or out of pocket.” What is the problem then, with taking away tax dollars? The health care you speak of, I would imagine, is covered under most any repudable health care policy. Why can’t these costs be provided through voluntary contributions, and not tax revenue?

What about all of those tax cuts for the rich? They control the country, they should pay for it. Damm right it’s “class warfare”, so what!

Please re-check your sources. Abortion is funded with taxpayers money. At least $1 billion dollars go to abortion and planned parenthood when it could go to education, the homeless, the poor, and the sick.

How about not just Republican Congressmen and women and Republican Senators…but democratic ones too. Lets be fair!! How about the state union workers retiring with the pentions that they receive from we the taxpayers??? I don’t want ton pay for anyones retirement…period. Plan for your future yourself. Get up off your lazy rears and put money aside for your future. It is not my responsibility to pay anyones pention. As for abortions at planned parenthood, I’d like to know where they get that name from due to the fact of all the people that get abortions there. I say we rename it UnPlanned Parenthood. nI refuse for my tax dollars to pay for abortions either. And another thing I think anyone who receives medicaid and foodstamps be given 2 yrs on the system, after that you’re on your own. Now put that in your pipe and smoke it.

your right, republicans and democrats alike are getting pensions that we paid for, but thats also because we pay their salaries. where do you think the money for their pensions will come from if were are the ones paying their salaries? same goes for state workers, tax money makes up their salaries so tax money makes up their pensions. beyond where their pensions come from, many do “get off [their] lazy rears and put money aside” as their pension alone isn’t enough. one more thing to understand is that although the benefits of being a state worker are generally very good, their annual wages are typically lower than a comparable job in the private sector. before you go whining about your tax money and their pensions, do a little thinking as to why the system is the way it is, you just might prevent making a fool of yourself.

Hey I’m with you on pensions. I don’t think anyone should get a pensionrnthat he/she didn’t fund themselves so no arguement there. If you are sornconcerned about your tax dollars maybe you should consider bigger placesrnthey go like subsidies for the highest profiting corp. in america, like oilrncompanies, wall street.. And consider why do we give such high tax breaksrnto the top 2% of wealthy people and take it back from the middle class? Dornyou realize how much money is in those tax breaks, billions. So we thernmiddle class have to make up that deficit in the treasure. Don’t you thinkrnthat, that kind of money would sure help the natiional deficit. I agreernthat Medicaid should not be a way of life for generation after generationrnbut it is and you and me and everybody is needed to change it. As forrnPlanned Parenthood maybe better named Womens health services. Do yournrealize all they do? Things like cancer screening, assistance with birthrncontrol for the poor. If those poor women couldn’t get birth control howrnmany more abortions do you think there would be? Abortions are only a lastrnresort to save the life of the mother or reasons of rape, or incest. Ifrnyour wife was raped be the most worst god awful filthy person in therncountry. Would you expect her to bear that birth and would you raise it asrnyour own? Planned Parenthood does a lot of good things. As for your taxrndollars they do not pay for abortions. IT has been the law of the land forrna very long time. There is NO government funding for abortions period sornput that in your pipe and smoke it.

How much goes for War. I would rather have planned parenthood than a new bomb to kill women and children. But thats what the Republicans like they want to kill you and me by cutting your income so you can starve, they want to take your Social Security to give to those very people that caused the housing bubble. They want your wages to pay for the tax cuts for the rich. And they don’t think your smart enough to vote for anyone. And from the results of the Republican Wins they are right.

Money donated to Planned Parenthood does go to Education, the Homless, the poor and the Sick. Thats the whole point, they give sex education, pap smears and birth control to people who cannot afford it.
