Editor’s Note: After receiving pressure from right-wing activists, the Susan G. Komen Foundation has announced they will stop funding Planned Parenthood for breast cancer exams and other breast-health services. Planned Parenthood keeps landing smack-dab in the middle of the Republicans’ war on women, ostensibly for its abortion practice. But that seems strange, considering this chart:
Only 3% of their patient care actually goes to abortion services. And, according to federal law, Planned Parenthood cannot actually use government funds on abortion procedures. So, if Planned Parenthood gets defunded, it’ll hurt poor people who are in need of cancer screenings, contraception, and STD testing.
So, nice try on that abortion thing, Republicans. As usual, your claims don’t hold.
