Organizers and changemakers have led so much important work on this platform. We want to thank all the MoveOn members who have been in community with us here. Time and time again, you have helped us harness the power of social media to drive collective action, holding those in power accountable and bringing the needs of the people to the fore.
As many others have concluded, driving meaningful work and getting our message out on this platform has been an uphill battle for a while. Elon Musk’s leadership has made it exceedingly difficult, and the 2024 presidential election made that clear. His political alliance with President-elect Trump signals more corruption as corporate interests further entrench their way into public forums and our government.
We continue to strive to be a welcoming space, no matter the social media platform, for anyone to join us who believes in an America where all can thrive. We’ll be expanding those efforts to BlueSky, and we encourage you all to follow us there.
What is BlueSky?
BlueSky is an open network where people can share their thoughts, connect with friends, get up-to-date news, and tailor their feeds to their liking. Users can have fun on social media again and also take care of their mental health by using filters and moderation lists so they have more control of their timeline.
The platform has seen exponential growth. Bluesky grew by more than 2 million users in just 10 days following the U.S. election and doubled in the last 90 days. Bluesky reached #1 in the App Store in the week following the U.S. election.
