VICTORY: Utah Governor Vetoes Ban on Sex Education
By Kaitlin Froom. Sunday, March 18 2012
When extreme religious conservatives in Utah tried to pass a bill banning sex education in public schools, preventing young people from getting critical information about STDs, pregnancy, and contraception, Paul Krueger, a school bus driver and retired firefighter, started a MoveOn Petition. Over 40,000 MoveOn members spoke out and successfully helped convince the state’s governor to veto the bill. Krueger said, “I’ve never done anything like this, and it’s kind of amazing how fast this took off.”
