When Dean Cannon, the Republican Speaker of the House, tried to silence debate on the issue, Scott launched a MoveOn Petition demanding Speaker Cannon allow full debate and end the war on choice. Scott’s battle with the speaker got national media attention and helped spark a grassroots backlash and almost every one of their anti-choice proposals was stopped.
