Organizing is hard work—all of us here at MoveOn know that all too well. And sometimes it can even feel a little discouraging, especially when you’re not sure what to do next with your campaign. That’s why we’ve put together these three easy steps for reigniting your campaign:
- Don’t sweat the numbers. Lots of petition creators worry that because they don’t have thousands of petition signatures, their target won’t listen to them. What they don’t realize is that for many targets the real pressure comes from actual people showing up at their offices, with the media in tow, asking to talk. So don’t be afraid to deliver your petition even if you’re not bringing a bunch of signatures—you can always hand in more signatures later, showing your target that support for your campaign is only growing. - Get your signers involved. The people who’ve already signed your petition are the biggest resource you have at your disposal. They’ve already shown that they care about your campaign, and often they’re more than happy to help. You can ask them to do anything from sharing your petition with their friends to making a call or even showing up at your petition delivery. So go ahead and send them an email using your petition dashboard right now.
- Build a team. Pretty much anything is more fun when you have other people involved, and organizing is no exception. Building a team of people who are passionate about your campaign will allow you to make sure that you can keep going for the long haul. Co-leaders can also bring new skills and ideas to your campaign, as well as their own personal social network and connections. You can add a co-leader to your petition from your dashboard.
