WASHINGTON, D.C. —In response to the Congressional Budget Office’s new analysis, which found the cost of Republicans’ war in Iran has cost nearly $40 billion to date, an average of $246 million per day, MoveOn Political Action released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth have now spent more money on a useless war than it would’ve cost to help millions of Americans keep their healthcare for one year. Republicans are refusing to do their job and rein in Donald Trump, meanwhile, hard-working Americans are watching their grocery and gas prices skyrocket, troops’ families pray their loved ones will make it home alive, and innocent Iranians continue to be murdered by this administration’s bombs,” said Sara Haghdoosti, MoveOn Political Action’s chief of program and former executive director of Win Without War. “MoveOn members will make sure Republicans pay for this at the ballot box this November.”
Eighteen American troops and over 3,600 Iranian people have been killed in Trump and Hegseth’s senseless war.
An analysis by the CBO released last fall revealed the cost to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies that Republicans cut in their Big, Beautiful Bill would have been about $35 billion per year.
