MoveOn Statement on Biden Keeping Families Together

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to President Biden announcing significant executive actions that will keep immigrant families together, MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting released the following statement:

“Today’s announcement by President Biden offers relief for many families, friends and neighbors who now can stay here after college with a work visa or remain with their spouses and keep their families together.

“As MAGA Republicans try to use the courts to attack DACA and separate families, Biden’s welcome actions come in the absence of much-needed congressional action for Dreamers.

“Biden’s actions to help keep families together are in stark contrast to former President Trump, who is campaigning with hateful xenophobia and readying to launch mass deportation raids targeting people who have lived here for decades if he wins this November. We encourage President Biden to use his executive authority to keep even more families together, including long-term immigrants who are caregivers for family members with special needs or disabilities.

“MoveOn members are committed to reelecting President Biden and Democrats in Congress who are serious about fixing our broken immigration system with much-needed commonsense immigration laws that strengthen our country, bolster legal pathways, and respect people’s rights and humanity.”
