Do NOT freeze or cut federal aid!
Will you add your name to the petition to show that we, the people, OPPOSE Trump freezing federal funds that go toward our children, families, schools, and communities?
Sign this PetitionWASHINGTON – In response to the Netflix and Warner Brothers deal that would result in a consolidation of streaming services and higher prices for consumers, MoveOn Civic Action spokesperson Britt Jacovich released the following statement:
“Higher subscription prices, more movie theater closures, and fewer options for what to watch—that’s what the future for movies and television looks like under this Netflix-Warner Bros. deal. We shouldn’t have to worry about our local movie theater closing or our streaming prices going up just so corporate execs can make even more money. There’s a reason why people on both sides of the aisle are calling for anti-trust enforcers to stop this monopolistic merger—because it’s bad for workers, consumers, and creators. The Department of Justice and Congress must step in and enforce anti-monopoly laws to reject this deal.”
MoveOn members have been pushing back against the rise of corporate greed for years, with over 200,000 people signing a petition calling for Netflix to stop raising prices. MoveOn members also fought against junk fees with its F*ck the Fees campaign—from Ticketmaster to airlines—and stood in solidarity with labor unions as they tackled corporate media greed. In addition, MoveOn called out both CBS and ABC for the ways each corporation sought to submit to the Trump administration by silencing its own late night hosts.
