MoveOn.org Reacts to the Tragic Church Shooting in South Carolina
By Anna Galland. Thursday, June 18 2015
The brutal murder of nine members of the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, is abhorrent and cause for national mourning. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all those grieving today in Charleston and across the nation.
As part of a sickening legacy of racist violence perpetrated against the Black community, yesterday’s shooting is also a call to unyielding action.
Today, MoveOn members stand with all those working to end rampant gun violence in our nation. And we will remain a staunch ally in the movement for Black lives—working to tear down racism in all its ugly manifestations and build a nation free of violence and oppression based on the color of one’s skin.
