Join NowILLINOIS — MoveOn Political Action members in Illinois’ 14th congressional district have voted overwhelmingly to endorse Lauren Underwood for Congress, with 98% of votes cast in favor of backing Underwood.
A native of Naperville, Underwood is registered nurse, with hands-on experience in America’s healthcare industry. She was appointed by President Obama to serve as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), where she helped implement the Affordable Care Act, broadening access for those on Medicare, improving healthcare quality and reforming private insurance.
“Lauren knows first-hand the real-life importance of quality, affordable health care for working families and their children, both from her career in health care and as an American with a pre-existing condition” said Matt Blizek, elections mobilization director for MoveOn. “A native of Naperville, Lauren has worked to expand access, most recently working with a Medicaid plan in Chicago to ensure that it provided high-quality, cost-efficient care. When Republican Rep. Randy Hultgren voted to take away health care from millions of Americans, Lauren stepped up—and Illinois’ 14th District residents need her fighting for them in Washington.”
MoveOn will mobilize its more than 12,000 members in IL-14 to volunteer for Underwood.
Here’s what a few MoveOn members in the district had to say about Underwood:
