Madison, WI – Today, MoveOn Political Action announced its members are backing Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Janet Protasiewicz for the open Wisconsin Supreme Court seat, with 98% of participating members casting a vote in Wisconsin in favor of endorsing. Alongside community partners, MoveOn is launching an aggressive grassroots GOTV campaign to mobilize over 100,000 Wisconsin voters for Protasiewicz through phone banks, SMS, tabling at college campuses, and relational organizing.
“MoveOn is proud to throw our support behind a real people-first advocate, Judge Janet Protasiewicz. With more than 25 years experience as a district attorney and 10 years on Milwaukee County’s Circuit Court, she has built up a reputation as a fair and impartial decider. MoveOn members overwhelmingly recognize that she is the fighter Wisconsin needs on their Supreme Court,” said MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting.
This marks the first-ever endorsement by MoveOn members in a state supreme court race. Epting continued, “With the future of democracy and abortion access on the line, the stakes in this race were too important for us to sit out. Our members do not want to take the Badger State backward. With just a few weeks to go until the April 4 election, MoveOn and our members are focused on showing up and turning out for Judge Janet Protasiewicz.”
MoveOn member and Fort Atkinson resident Shirley Cottle added, “She is an excellent candidate with a distinguished career and progressive values. She is running against a far right-wing Trump supporter, who was part of the movement to overturn the 2020 election. She MUST not lose.”
