Join NowWASHINGTON DC – With news that the Senate is moving forward on a bill to fast-track the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, Anna Galland, executive director of MoveOn.org Civic Action, issued the following statement strongly opposing the legislation and urging members of Congress to defend U.S. workers and oppose the deal:
“Across the country, Americans of all walks of life have made their opinions on fast-track and the Trans-Pacific Partnership clear to their members of Congress: Either stand with working Americans and help stop the dangerous TPP, or give increased and unprecedented powers to giant corporations at the expense of working people.
“The policies adopted under Fast Track have cost more than a million jobs and contributed to the shuttering of more than 60,000 factories. “MoveOn’s more than 8 million members are urging all members of Congress to stand with Sen. Elizabeth Warren and other leaders in opposing this secretive, dangerous deal that hurts American workers, undermines environmental and labor standards, and that could lead to another financial crisis.”
MoveOn members have taken numerous actions over the past few months to oppose Fast-Track and the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal:
