Recap: Families First Actions From Coast to Coast

We rallied. We created art. We gathered thousands of pounds of food and other donations for our communities. But most importantly, we built community.

Tens of thousands of individuals showed up at hundreds of events across the country on Saturday to set the record straight: Our families must come first, not billionaire tax breaks.

The day of action on July 26 included 220-plus community events around the country. The events were peaceful and reminded the country that we are not giving up on our families.

Family First Day of Action events included:

  • Face painting for kids on the National Mall
  • A Medicaid motorcade to six different rural hospitals in Indiana
  • A birthday party for Medicaid in Tucson
  • A food drive in LaCrosse, Wisconsin
  • Five different peaceful protests across Kentucky

Whether you hosted an event, turned out in the heat to take action against these horrible cuts, watched the livestream of the D.C. marquee event, attended an online training, or signed up but weren’t able to make it, thank you for helping kick off the August congressional recess with righteous action.

But that’s not all. We know we need to combat all of Trump’s attacks and protect our communities. So here are a few more ways you can take action:

  • Join MoveOn’s next monthly phone bank: Every 4th Monday of the month, MoveOn members come together to phone-bank
  • One Million Rising training series, a national effort to train 1 million people in the strategic logic and practice of noncooperation, as well as the basics of community organizing and campaign design. This is how we build people power that can’t be ignored.
  • And stay tuned to your email inbox as events and campaigns are being planned by organizations who came together to host Families First events.

Thank you for your persistence, for your commitment to democracy, and for believing in American families. Together, we will continue to fight back and use people power to create change.
