With years of dedicated service to Northeast Ohio, Congresswoman Emilia Sykes has built her career on delivering real results for working families, businesses, and seniors. Born and raised on the west side of Akron, Ohio, Emilia saw firsthand that while local families work hard every day, they are too often denied a level playing field. This drove her to public service, eventually serving as the House Minority Leader in the Ohio State House before taking her fight to Washington.
In Congress, Emilia has cut through partisan gridlock to connect her community to critical federal resources. In her first term alone, she successfully secured over $300 million in federal funding for Ohio’s 13th District and returned more than $15 million directly to her constituents. Recognized by the Akron Beacon Journal editorial board as an effective lawmaker who finds ways to assist those she was elected to serve despite political gridlock, Emilia continues to champion a bipartisan legislative agenda centered on the American Dream.

Protecting Social Security and Medicare: Emilia strongly opposes cuts to vital safety nets, fighting to protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare so that Ohio’s seniors can retire with dignity and security.
