MoveOn is proud to endorse Bob Harvie for Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District!
Leadership and Experience
A lifelong resident of Bucks County, Bob Harvie has dedicated his career to community engagement, education, and public service. Before entering local government, Bob spent 26 years as a high school social studies teacher, including two decades serving as the chairman of the Social Studies Department at Bucks County Technical High School (BCTHS).Deeply committed to honoring those who served, he initiated and ran the Beyond the Books program at BCTHS, connecting dozens of area military veterans with students to share their real-world experiences.
Bob’s call to public service eventually led him to local leadership. He served on the Falls Township Board of Supervisors from 2003 to 2020, spending 12 of those years as chairman—the longest tenure in the township’s history. In 2019, Bob was elected to the Bucks County Board of Commissioners, where he has served as both Chair and Vice-Chair. Throughout his time in office, he has built a reputation for bringing civility, professionalism, and robust infrastructure investments to county government. He is running for Congress because he believes Washington is stuck in chaos while middle-class and working families are paying the price.
How he’ll help your community:
-
Tax Relief for Working Families: Bob supports tax reform that targets relief directly toward middle- and lower-income families. He will advocate for closing corporate tax loopholes so that large corporations and the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share, easing the financial burden on regular households.
-
Investing in Public Safety and Support Systems: Building on his county leadership, Bob advocates for a comprehensive approach to safety. He supports robust funding for local law enforcement paired alongside community-based public safety programs, such as crisis co-responder models and expanded mental health and addiction treatment.
-
Combating the Climate Crisis: Bob has championed county-level environmental initiatives, including appointing a sustainability director and implementing a County Climate Action Plan. In Congress, he will push to modernize infrastructure, expand clean energy, and incentivize green initiatives to reduce carbon emissions while generating stable jobs.
-
Rebuilding Local Communities: Frustrated by federal gridlock and devastating cuts that have left local nonprofits with fewer resources, Bob will fight to ensure federal funding flows directly back into regional infrastructure, community support organizations, and small businesses.
His position on key issues
-
Protecting and Expanding Healthcare: Bob views healthcare as a fundamental human right. While noting that a complete single-payer system is not politically feasible at present, he will fight to protect and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid, lower skyrocketing prescription drug costs, reduce medical debt, and expand standard coverage to include vital mental health, dental, and vision care.
-
Defending Reproductive Freedom: Bob stands firmly as a defender of bodily autonomy and reproductive health. He believes that women should be completely free to make their own healthcare decisions without government overreach, and he supports federal protections for abortion access and robust funding for Planned Parenthood.
-
Common-Sense Gun Safety: To keep neighborhoods and schools safe from gun violence, Bob advocates for pragmatic firearm regulations. He supports strict limits on assault-style weapons and common-sense restrictions that prevent high-risk individuals from obtaining firearms, while respecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners.
-
Ending Corporate Influence: Endorsed by advocates fighting to stop big money in politics, Bob refuses to let special interests control legislative outcomes. He is running a grassroots-focused campaign dedicated to transparency, ethical governance, and accountability to the voters of Bucks and Montgomery counties.
