The 2012 elections are over, and the American people have spoken. We voted for strengthening the middle class and putting people back to work—not for job-killing budget cuts and attacks on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

In an amazing show of people power, MoveOn.org’s members and staff came together in the clutch to help the progressive movement win in 2012. Here’s what they were up against, and how they broke through:
When the GOP-controlled Minnesota Legislature agreed to put a pro-voter ID constitutional amendment on the November 6 ballot, they thought it would be a sure win. Voting rights groups immediately denounced the ballot measure as a way to suppress turnout by elderly people, young people, and minorities, who are least likely to have identification showing their current address. Liz Loeb started a MoveOn Petition asking the state legislature to stop voter suppression.
As of mid-day on November 7, 3.5 million Facebook likes and counting. 700,000 Retweets. The image was originally sent out via the Barack Obama Facebook page and Twitter feed.
