DETROIT —In response to Rep. Haley Stevens and other establishment Democrats undermining Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed days before Election Day, MoveOn Political Action Interim Executive Director Joel Payne released the following statement:
“In the homestretch of these midterms, everyone who wants to see a Democratic majority should be pitching in to elect this new class of fighters and put their petty grievances to the side.
“Sore loser establishment Democrats like Haley Stevens and her inner circle are confirming what many of us suspected all along: they would rather work with Republicans to help Mike Rogers go back to Washington to continue Donald Trump’s war and his tariff tax on Michigan families than work together to reflect the will and needs of Democratic voters. Pathetic.”
This weekend, MoveOn members are organizing 800 Detroiters to rally and unite behind Abdul El-Sayed. With more than 200,000 active members in Michigan, MoveOn Political Action launched billboards, digital ads, mailers, events, member-to-member phone banks, get-out-the-vote efforts, and volunteer canvassing events across the state. The group’s outreach has centered on engaging both Democratic leaning voters who sat out the 2024 election and Black Michiganders who are crucial to the Democratic coalition. MoveOn has organized three GOTV events in the last two weeks in Detroit to drive support for Dr. El-Sayed, including a podcast recording with prominent journalist Jemele Hill focused on how El-Sayed’s agenda will help Black Michiganders.
