WASHINGTON – In response to the end of the Supreme Court’s term, MoveOn Political Action spokesperson Joel Payne released the following statement:
“It’s bad enough that the American people are saddled with a President and Republicans in Congress who are more focused on dropping billions on bombs and ballrooms than making groceries or gas cheaper. On top of that, we have a Supreme Court stacked with MAGA loyalists that continues to give Trump free rein to make our lives harder.”
“After issuing recent decisions that aid and abet Trump and Republicans to consolidate power by silencing millions of Black Americans, the MAGA majority on the Court this week made it easier for big donor money to drown out our voices in elections, continued their assault on trans kids, and gave Trump even more unchecked power.
“And even though they were unsuccessful, there are three MAGA justices who believe that Donald Trump should be able to strip millions of Americans born in this country of their constitutional rights to be a citizen and four wanted to make it more difficult for our votes to be counted.
“With justices serving as puppets for Donald Trump to control, we need a Congress that’s laser-focused on reforming the Court so that it can rein in corporate and executive power. For now, Trump may have the Supreme Court on his side to attempt to rig elections and hold onto Congress, but the American people see through this corrupt system for what it is. MoveOn members will be turning voters out like never before to kick MAGA and corruption out of politics this fall.”
