WASHINGTON– In response to President Trump’s illegal and escalatory threats against Iran, MoveOn Civic Action spokesperson Joel Payne released the following statement:
“Simply by threatening to target civilians and civilian infrastructure, Donald Trump is committing war crimes. Trump started this war on Iran unilaterally, and he wants us to foot the bill. He is wasting a billion dollars a day on his war, while destroying our health care and causing gas prices for American families to skyrocket. Trump’s Republican allies in his administration and in Congress refuse to do a damn thing to stop him.
“When will Republicans hold this president accountable and stop this madness? How many more people have to die? How much more pain do the American people and innocent civilians across the world have to feel before Trump and Republicans have had enough?
“Anyone in elected office who refuses to speak out against Trump’s war and his unhinged daily threats is complicit in this atrocity, and our millions of members will remember those who showed courage and those who cowered and did nothing.”
