WASHINGTON – In response to President Trump’s Inauguration and anticipated executive orders, MoveOn Civic Action Executive Director Rahna Epting released the following statement:
“The American people voted for common sense and cheaper eggs, not chaos and corruption. Yet, Donald Trump is already betraying what voters sent him to Washington to do—just as he did in his first term. His Day 1 actions are an attack on millions of Americans that will not make our country stronger, our communities safer, our economy better, or our lives any easier.
“There is no mandate for turning people and communities against each other. There is no mandate for centralizing power and wealth with his billionaire friends. And there is no mandate to violate the rights of millions of Americans.
“Seventy-five million people rejected Donald Trump and his extremist ideas last November. Millions more who gave him the benefit of the doubt did not send him back to Washington to make their lives more difficult and more chaotic yet again. Contrary to what Donald Trump thinks, our voices cannot and will not be silenced.”
