Remembering Activist Grace Lee Boggs

democracynow

“The only way to survive is by taking care of one another.”

—Grace Lee Boggs (1915-2015)

Yesterday, the world lost one of the greatest activists of our time. For the past seven decades, Grace tirelessly fought for the labor, civil rights, black power, feminist, and environmental justice movements as a community activist in Detroit.

As President Obama said:

“Grace dedicated her life to serving and advocating for the rights of others—from her community activism in Detroit, to her leadership in the civil rights movement, to her ideas that challenged us all to lead meaningful lives. As the child of Chinese immigrants and as a woman, Grace learned early on that the world needed changing.”

Today, MoveOn sends our deepest thanks to Grace for her passion and work to make the world a better place. Her life serves as an example for so many and she will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
