In an incredible and unprecedented development, physicists at Fermilab announced that they have have discovered an entirely new force of nature that would quite literally change our understanding of reality. According to Popular Science:
Together the data suggest a new particle, a new force or at the very least, new behavior among recognized particles and forces.
But there’s another reality at play here: Republican budget cuts to the Department of Energy’s Office of Science could kill off this groundbreaking work as early as September 2011.
Even though September isn’t that far away, there’s a lot we can do to make sure the Republican reality doesn’t become reality for the rest of us.
