Wisconsin Students Organize Nationwide School Walkout

Wisconsin students have organized a nationwide walkout on Friday, March 11 at 2PM to stand up for their teachers, whose rights are under attack.

Republicans had no idea they were going to awaken a whole new generation of activists by trying to dismantle unions in Wisconsin. But that’s exactly what they’ve done.

Protest coordinator Jesse Banks, a senior at Wisconsin’s Madison East High School, says that the idea of a nationwide walk-out “came out of an entirely student-run meeting” because the students “wanted to do something that added visibility to how the attacks on unions and schools are harmful to kids.” The organizing happened on Facebook through theĀ event “Nationwide Student Walkout” and the group Wisconsin Students in Solidarity.
