VICTORY: Judge Partially Blocks PA Voter ID Law

gavel1

When the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed House Bill 934, a voter ID restriction, the legislation guaranteed many eligible voters would be turned away at the polls. A Pittsburgh teacher, Steven Signer, a Pittsburgh teacher, started a MoveOn Petition opposing the law. Steven’s petition was signed by 21,000 people and helped put pressure on federal courts to act. Responding to a lawsuit filed by the ACLU of Pennsylvania, Advancement Project, and others, Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson issued an injunction allowing 750,000 voters to cast a ballot in the 2012 election.
