When three of his fellow San Jose council members and the mayor proposed a bill to strip city workers of their benefits and take away their collective bargaining rights, progressive Council Member Ash Kalra refused to let his city become the next Wisconsin. Ash started a MoveOn Petition to the San Jose mayor and City Council, demanding that San Jose workers retain their rights.

Delaware Governor Jack Markell was the deciding vote on the Delaware River Basin Commission on proposed weak fracking regulations that would have threatened the drinking water of more than 15 million people. Unsure how the governor would vote on this terrible proposal, progressive Delaware state legislator John Kowalko started a MoveOn Petition urging the governor to vote no.

In 2011 alone, Florida Republicans introduced 18 separate bills to restrict a woman’s right to choose. But progressive champion Rep. Scott Randolph fought back. When Dean Cannon, the Republican Speaker of the House, tried to silence debate on the issue, Scott launched a MoveOn Petition demanding Speaker Cannon allow full debate and end the war on choice.
